The Story Behind My First Print
By Alexandra Martin & William the Fox
Hello again, and welcome to my second blog post—though in many ways, it feels like the official first! This one will be short and sweet, as it’s all about my very first print. I thought it would be a lovely way to begin sharing the creative journey of building my little business.
The print you see above is called "Morning Sunshine." I created it during a quiet lunchtime after brainstorming ideas for what to make. I originally planned to use a design from my list of concepts, but—like many things in life—this moment took an unexpected turn.
You know those moments when you’ve been focusing so intensely that your mind starts to wander? This was one of those times. After my morning routine and some initial sketching, my thoughts drifted. Usually, it’s something light-hearted like “Wouldn’t it be fun to be friends with ten different animals?” or “What should I have for lunch?”—the usual random musings. But that day, my mind turned towards simple reflections. Thoughts like “Did I sleep enough?” or “I miss having oats for breakfast.” From there, my imagination wandered further, landing on a memory of summer sunrises.
Those peaceful mornings when the sun rises just after 7 AM, giving you the rare gift of sleeping in yet still catching the first golden light. Birds chirping outside, everything feeling soft and calm—it’s one of those little moments that makes you feel grounded and content. That feeling became the spark for this print. I could already picture it: warm, glowing colours, soft light, and the quiet joy of morning. And just like that, Morning Sunshine was born.
Thank you for joining me for this little peek behind the scenes. I always try to keep things short and sweet—no long rambles here! Take good care of yourself, and remember to keep spreading a little light and love wherever you go. I hope you have many wonderful mornings ahead.
Until next time—and if you’d like to follow along or have any questions, you can find me over on my socials.
