Winston

Winston treats every walk like an official mission and refuses to leave home without emergency tennis balls.

Winston lives his life with one very important belief:

Every situation can be improved with a tennis ball.

Walks are not leisure activities to Winston - they are carefully planned operations. He begins each outing with a serious inspection of his surroundings, followed by a quick check that at least one (preferably three) tennis balls have been accounted for.

Unfortunately, Winston has never successfully maintained possession of all three tennis balls for more than five minutes.

He loses them under furniture, into bushes, behind mysterious garden objects, and once (allegedly) into a hedge that “looked suspicious.”

He still revisits those locations. Just in case they return.

Despite this, Winston remains fully committed to the idea that he is an extremely competent outdoor professional.

He is especially confident when running.

Less so when stopping.

If you hear rapid paw-steps followed by joyful confusion, Winston is probably nearby executing what he calls “a high-speed retrieval strategy.”

Notes from Observers

Winston is often described as:

  • “confidently confused”

  • “emotionally helpful at high speed”

  • “a small disaster with good intentions”

Despite frequent chaos, he is widely considered:

Extremely trustworthy in emergencies involving sadness, boredom, or tennis balls.

Winston finds Miso “too still” and spends most interactions trying to convince her to chase something that does not exist.

They share a mutual understanding of chaos. Winston prefers ground-based speed. Timothée prefers “everything else.”

Olive is the only one who can calmly hold Winston still long enough to check if he still has all his tennis balls.

Hazel once gave Winston a “very important stick.” Winston still treats it like a sacred object.
